Uncoupling Membrane

Floor heating systems have well-known advantages, but the uncoupling membrane is game-changing

HGSMD

An uncoupling membrane has become a must-have to make heating cable installation easier. Its key purpose is to cut down on movement between the various materials used in a complete installation. The uncoupling membrane compensates for horizontal movements up to 1/8 in. which in turn protects tiles from cracking and delamination. Best of all, installing the heating cable is a snap!

  • Membrane de désolidarisation

Advantages

  • Easy heating cable installation
  • Protects tiles from cracking and delamination
  • More uniform transitionWith adjacent non-heated floor covering
  • Can replace the underlayment required for tiling
  • Subfloor vapour management
  • Uniform load distribution
  • Heating cable and tile installationWithout drying delay time

MANUFACTURING

  • Entirely made of polypropylene
  • Rounded square studs for easy heating cable installation
  • 3 rounded square studs spacing of 3 ¾ in. for optimal heat distribution and coverage
  • Thermo welded woven back to increase the bond between the subfloor and membrane.
  • Colour: blue
  • Height of ¼ in. (5.5 mm)
  • Available in 53.8 ft² and 161 ft² rolls
  •  Available in 8.9 ft² sheets

COMPATIBLE FLOORINGS

  • Ceramic, porcelain, stone, vinyl, laminated engineered wood
  • Soft and wood floorings must be installed on a self-leveling underlayment layer of ½ in. on top of the studs.

INSTALLATION

  • Modified and non-modified mortars can be used as per mortar manufacturer recommendations
  • Installation over plywood, OSB, concrete, gypsum base and existing vinyl
  • Installation possible directly over the subfloor (limitations apply)
  • The membrane does not replace the need for movement joints
